As part of its placemaking agenda, The Engine Yard developer Places for People is pre-qualifying buyers to ensure that properties will not be used for short term lets such as Airbnb.
With over 2,000 people signed up for news about properties for sale at The Engine Yard on Edinburgh’s Leith Walk, it was no surprise that the first ten properties were snapped up within just a few hours of going on sale. The second release of one and two bed apartments are also now on sale.
Colin Rae, Group Development Director at Places for People, said:
“It has been a very exciting sales launch which reflects pent up demand for quality homes in Edinburgh. The Engine Yard is poised to breathe new life into an already vibrant neighbourhood, not just by transforming a neglected historic brownfield site, but by building a safe and sustainable community that people will want to be part of.
“Retaining historic features and introducing new shared outdoor spaces, The Engine Yard has its own appeal away from the buzz of the main thoroughfare, with all the advantages of excellent transport links and the ability to walk to the city centre. We have been overwhelmed by the positive response we have had to the design concept and to the fact that Places Gym forms part of the development.”
Calum Miller, Associate Director at sales agent Rettie & Co. said:
“To sell over 20% of phase one of the development off plan in the first weekend is a real testament to the quality product being delivered by Places for People at The Engine Yard. There is huge interest in the rest of the first phase and we are very confident the strong rate of sales will continue.
“There is a great range of properties available, everything from a 1 bed apartment to a 3 bed penthouse. Given the level of enquiries received already, we’d encourage anyone interested to make early contact with us.”
